Obituary of Sandra Grace

Sandra Sue Grace (Sandy), 79, of Brownsburg, IN, passed away on June 22, 2024 surrounded by family. Sandy was born on October 20th, 1944 in Evansville, IN to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Geraldine Sweeney.

Sandy is survived by her two children, Stacy O'Leary (Tom) and Todd Grace (Michele), and four grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Alli, and Brady. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry, and her parents, Edward and Geraldine.

Sandy and Jerry met while attending Ben Davis High School and began dating post-graduation in 1963. They were married 6 months later on December 14, 1963. Sandy and Jerry enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage together, with Jerry passing just shortly before their anniversary. They spent the majority of their married lives together living on a peaceful plot of farmland in Pittsboro, IN. Sandy and Jerry were faithful and devoted to one another, and we have no doubt Sandy is rejoicing in the loving arms of Jerry once again in Heaven.

Sandy began her career by attending Beauty School right after High School where she became a licensed beautician. Sandy also invested her talents into the theatrical wardrobe union IATSE Local 893 where she was president of the local for nearly 30 years. She was Wardrobe Supervisor for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and was responsible for the costumes of the Yuletide Celebration and many ISO concerts. Sandy helped tailor many of the costumes used in various Broadway productions and concerts traveling to the Indianapolis area.

Sandy was a firm believer in Christ. She ensured that his teachings were at the heart of everything she did, and it showed through her actions everyday. She was a proud member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Brownsburg, IN where she volunteered and participated in their community events.

Sandy was admired by so many and was always there for others throughout her time on earth. She was known for her decorative eye and excelling in any craft project she set out to do. Sandy was always found in the midst of a project, whether it be for the Symphony, for a family event, or for a Church function. She was intelligent and a great listener, ready to support anyone who needed a hand. Sandy was a loyal friend and confidant, a great dancer, a gardener, and the light of any room she entered. She was a gracious caregiver to her husband before his passing. Sandy loved everyone, but most of all she loved her family and her God. Her legacy lives on in the eyes of her friends and family that she leaves behind, and the kindness that she shared with us. Sandy will live on in our hearts until we are able to meet her again. She will be so greatly missed.
