Obituary

Sandra Anne Holman (Blocher), 81, of Brownsburg, formerly of Pittsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. She was born on August 31, 1940 in Indianapolis. Sandra was a loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Sandra was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Gene K. Holman; her parents, Harry and Marguerite Blocher; sister, Alberta Smith and sister-in-law, Deborah Blocher.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Blocher of Dunedin, Florida, her children Paul Holman (Melinda) of Pittsboro, Jeff Holman of Indianapolis and Laura Basso (Ric) of Brownsburg. Her memory will be cherished by her granddaughters, Shawna Ades (Derek) of Pittsboro, Sabrina Vaes (Chris Grubb) of High Springs, Florida, Erin Vaughn (Chris) of Lebanon, Elissa Holman of Lebanon and Nicole Basso (Daniel Meyer) of Noblesville. She will be dearly missed by her great grandchildren, Brad, Molly and Sam Ades, Lincoln and Lucas Vaughn, Cali, Dallas, Denver and Savannah Vaes. Her family was the light of her heart and soul.

Sandra was a licensed beautician for many years. She also worked for Hendricks Regional Health and IPS. She and her husband enjoyed the many adventures that life had to offer. They loved to travel, landscape and attend Nascar races. They loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Sandra was a woman of tremendous faith. She loved the Lord and spent countless hours reading her Bible, watching sermons and listening to her favorite worship songs. As her health declined, her faith grew even stronger and made a lasting impact on those around her. She knew her home was in heaven and was grateful for the eternal life she had through Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was an active member at Traders Point Christian Church as well as her previous church, Trinity United Methodist Church of Aiken, SC. Although our hearts ache, we do not grieve as those who have no hope and are assured that we'll see her again because of the promise of eternal life through Jesus.

Some of Sandy's most cherished activities included cooking and exploring new recipes. She was a master in the kitchen and took great joy to pass those skills on to the girls in the family. She loved bonding with family over a good meal. She was an avid knitter for over 60 years and crafted many prayer blankets for family and friends.

She was known for her kind, generous spirit and always looked for ways to help her family and friends. She was always inquisitive, witty and had a great sense of humor. She was loving beyond measure and will be missed by everyone who knew and adored her. Heaven is a much brighter place because of her presence.

Sandra was a past Worthy Matron and 50-year member of the Pittsboro Chapter No. 416 OES.

The family would like to thank the Brownsburg Fire Territory, Dr. Robert Kemp, Hendricks Family Medicine and the staff and doctors at Hendricks Regional Health for their compassion and tender loving care. A special thanks to Pastor Steve Reeves and his wife, Kristen, for ministering to Sandra and her family in her final days. We will always remember the kindness of so many that was extended to our family during this time.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Matthews Mortuary on Tuesday, July 19. Visitation will take place from 11am - 1 pm. The funeral will take place at 1 pm officiated by Pastor Steve Reeves. Entombment will take place at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
