Sarah Elizabeth Greene, age 71, made her transition on the 18th day of September, 2014 while resting in the home of her son Gary D. Greene, in Brownsburg, Indiana. Sarah was born to Matthew and Eva Dacus on July 28, 1943, in Jackson, Mississippi. Sarah moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family at age 12 and was reared there with her siblings Mathuel Evon Dacus (Jones) and Douglas Oneal Dacus. Sarah graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1961 and was wed to Cornell D. Greene in that same year. Sarah attended University of Detroit in Detroit, Michigan where she completed several courses in the field of Social Work. Sarah worked as a family service worker for the Michigan Department of Social Services. Sarah was well known and well-loved among her colleagues during her tenure. Sarah celebrated her lifelong career with friends and family when she retired from service in October of 2000, after 31 years. Sarah bore four children with Cornell; Carla R. Greene (Thompson), Anthony K. Greene, Pamela Yvette Greene, and Gary D. Greene. Sarah instilled in all of her children; a love for God, a great interest in reading, a desire for education, an appreciation of the arts, and an enthusiasm for lively conversation and debate. Sarah enjoyed travelling and regularly attended CB Breaks with her friends. Sarah developed many meaningful friendships with her local and online pals from around the globe. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Eva Dacus. Sarah is survived by her sister and brother and four children and her grand-children; Brian Greene, Erin Sigmon, Matthew Sigmon, Bryce Keith, Anthony Greene, Ashton Greene, Jaylon Keith, Aaron Thigpen, Kai Thompson, Marlene Greene, Kaitlyn Thompson, and Jordan Greene and nieces and nephews; LaToya Moore and her family, Brandy S. Jones and her family, Naya Walker and her family and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Miles Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3768 Field St., Detroit, MI 48214, Reverend David Daniels, Pastor. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made, in the name of Sarah Elizabeth Greene, to Indiana University Simon Cancer Center, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
