Scott Edward Johnson April 5, 1966 – December 12, 2024 Pittsboro, Indiana
Scott Edward Johnson, known to friends and family as Scotty or Scotty J, passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 58. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home in Pittsboro, Indiana.
Born on April 5, 1966, in Danville, Indiana, Scott was the son of Jerry and Sandra Johnson. He grew up in Brownsburg, IN and graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1984, later earning his degree from Hanover College in 1989. On June 29, 1991, Scott married the love of his life, Cynthia Medjeski Johnson. He was the proud father of daughters Claire and Lilly Johnson. He is survived by his sisters, Stephanie (Bart) Hensley and Wendy Johnson-Pierce, his brother, Joe (Tara) Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandra and Jerry Johnson, and his sister, Stacey Lewis.
Scott's career spanned 24 years at Sandvik Coromant, where he served as a Strategic Account Manager in sales. He was highly respected by his colleagues and known for his charisma, dedication, and exceptional ability to connect with people. In addition to his professional career, Scott loved his part-time work at the Pittsboro Golf Course and Traders Brewery, where he had the opportunity to socialize and build friendships with many people in the community. Whether on the green or behind the bar, Scott thrived in environments where he could connect with others and share a laugh.
Scott found immense joy in guiding young people and helping them reach their full potential, particularly through sports. He poured his heart into coaching for several teams, including his daughters' recreational basketball and softball teams, IGHL, and the Twisters and Indy Crush softball teams. When not coaching, you could find him refereeing youth football games, supporting USI softball, and attending various local sporting events. Sports not only allowed Scott to spend quality time with his daughters, but also helped him build lasting friendships and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Scott had an infectious personality and lit up any room he walked into. To know Scott was to love him. He had a gift for making everyone feel like a friend and never met a stranger. His sense of humor and playful spirit made him a joy to be around. Scott valued and looked forward to vacations and outings throughout the year with friends and family. He was also a man of many passions, one of which was cooking pizza for those he loved. Scott found great joy in bringing people together and creating meaningful memories.
A visitation for Scott will be held at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, IN on Thursday, December 19th from 3:00-7:00 PM. A celebration of Scott's life will be held on Friday, December 20th at the Pittsboro Scamahorn Scout Building at 6:00 PM.
