Sharon R. Gibson
70, Brownsburg, passed away January 31, 2011. She had been a Latin teacher in Pascagoula, MS for 8 years and in Brownsburg, IN for 27 years, retiring in 2006. She received her Bachelor Degree with honors from Wheaton College and her Masters Degree from Ball State University. Her honors included Indiana Classical Conference Creative Latin Teacher of the Year in 1982, Brownsburg Schools Teacher of the Year in 1999 and Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 2004. She was a member of Grace Bible Church. Survivors include her husband Dennis Gibson; children Jeff Gibson, Carrie Newman, Kelly Wood, and Brian Gibson; sisters Carolyn Munro, Kate Starks, and Nancy Kletzing; grandchildren Peyton, Brittany, Josiah and Simon Gibson; Savannah, Dawson and Chloe Newman; Taylor, Jordan and James Wood. A brother Keith Sprunger preceded her in death. Visitation will be from
4-8pm, Fri., Feb. 4, 2011 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral services will be 11am, Sat., Feb. 5, 2011 at the Grace Bible Church, 425 S. High School Rd., Indianapolis. Interment services will be 11am Mon., Feb. 7, 2011 at Covington Memorial Gardens, Ft. Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or to "Swim to the Wall" student scholarship fund in c/o Brownsburg School Corporation in Memory of Sharon Gibson.
