Sharon Gail
Wilson
July 16, 1946 – January 14, 2021
Sharon Wilson (nee Wade), age 74, of Avon, Indiana passed away in the early morning of January 14th, 2021 at St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis. Her family surrounded her in love and prayer. Sharon was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School and was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, NaNa, great-grandmother, and dearest friend.
Sharon was skillfully employed by Eli Lilly before dedicating herself as a stay at home mom for many years. Sharon happily devoted herself for over 25 years at Purdue Extension-Hendricks County Fairgrounds. Sharon spent her retired years enjoying being a grandma, great-grandma and endless hours serving her community. She enjoyed vacations, cooking for others, quilting, and of course her weekend casino trips. Sharon cherished her weekend "getaways" with her sister. Anyone meeting Sharon would also soon learn of her love for Disney, Mickey Mouse and her bright red 1966 SS396 Chevelle.
Sharon was a member of Avon Christian Church. She was an active volunteer for the Pittsboro Police Department and all of Hendricks County. She could always be found supplying all the needs of the Souperhero Cook Off, Project Angel, Hospital blankets, toy drives, and more. Sharon would be the first to help in any given situation for any family of the community. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eileen (nee Dodd) and Robert Wade. She is survived by her daughters, Christi (Erica) Nichols-Patterson and Kim (Jon) Nething; grandchildren Taylor, Mikayla, Robert (Josey), Danielle, Allyson, Kimmie (Zach), and Eric; great grandchildren Gemma and Rylee; sister Joyce Smiley; brother Robert (Mary) Wade; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was officially a mother of two but she played a very special motherly role for many.
She cared deeply for her family, friends, neighbors, and of course animals. Sharon will be remembered for her unconditional love, her faith, tireless will to serve others, and her spunky humor to fill the world with smiles and laughter.
A celebration of life will be held July 11, 2021 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds/Cartlidge Barn. In lieu of flowers, Sharon asks that monetary donations be made in her memory for scholarship funds so she can continue to support the youth and the future of our environment. Donations can be sent directly to the Hendricks County 4-H Fair Association PO Box 7 Danville IN 46122.
