Stanley Joe Gibbs passed away March 19, 2018 at Hendricks Regional Hospital. He was born July 12, 1958, the youngest son of Basil and Marjorie (Veatch) Gibbs. He graduated from Tri-West High School in 1977. Stan worked at Mayflower and at CVS. His all-time favorite job was mowing grass with Eric Smith's lawn service. Stan was a sports fan, particularly of the New York Yankees, I.U. basketball, Notre Dame football, the Pacers, the Colts, and Tri West everything . Stan had coached kids in baseball and traveled with amateur softball teams around the eastern U.S. Stan was elected to Indiana Softball Hall of Fame. His memory about teams, games, and players was unbelievable. These last few years, he kept in contact with his many friends by telephone and computer. He liked people and enjoyed spending time, chatting, and laughing with them.
Because of health issues, Stan had been in assisted living until October of 2016 and then in long term care at Danville Regional Rehab until the time of his death. He is survived by four brothers, Dean (Teresa) of Pittsboro; Roger of San Antonio, TX.; and Russell and Rex of Lizton. He is also survived by two nephews, 2 great nephews and two great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Heather Gibbs. Visitation will be from 10am to 12noon Saturday March 24 at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 12 noon. Burial will be in St. Malachy Cemetery, Brownsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to your favorite charity.
