Obituary

Stephanie Ann (Taylor) Marcum passed away on March 1, 2011. She was born on October 22, 1961. Stephanie was a 1980 Graduate of Avon High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She was an accomplished athlete earning All Tourney, All County and All Sectional Honors. Stephanie went on to graduate from Purdue Pharmacy School in 1986. While attending Purdue, Stephanie made the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement. She is preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Dorothy Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Barry Marcum, her brother, Noble Taylor (Michelle), her father-in-law Bill Marcum and mother in law Georgia Marcum, two brothers-in-law, Brandon and Brad, a sister-in-law, Billie, eight nieces and a one nephew. Stephanie was a member of and past president of the Girls Barrel Racing Association of Indiana where she currently served on the Board of Directors. In 1999, Stephanie won the GBRA of I Presidents Award. She was a seven time All-Around Cowgirl for the GBRA and had over 19 championship seasons with them. She also belonged to the American Quarter Horse Association and was the Reserve World Champion in both 1998 and 2007. On multiple occasions she placed in the top ten in AQHA World Show Competition. In 2010, Stephanie won the All American Quarter Horse Congress Pole Bending Sweepstakes Finals. She was also a member of the National Pole Benders Association and in 2006 and 2010 won their National Championship. Stephanie also had multiple championships at the Kentucky State Fair and the National Livestock Exposition. Stephanie worked as a Pharmacist at CVS for almost 25 years and co-owned Circle T Stables along with her family. Funeral services will be 10am Sat. March 5 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with visitation there from 4-8pm Fri. March 4. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.  www.cancer.org
