Stephen A. Bland, a lifelong resident of Brownsburg, died Sept. 19, 2015 at the age of 70. Born Nov. 15, 1944 in Indianapolis, Steve was the son of Albert and Louise (Schlosser) Bland. He retired from Sears following 37 years of service, then drove a bus for the Brownsburg School system for 8 years. Steve served as a dedicated caregiver to both his mother and grandmother. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, including great-nieces Cassie and Sammie. Steve cherished the close relationships forged with friends from both Sears and the bus barn. He was an avid bike rider, often tackling the Monon Trail. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol (Bland) Marsh. Survivors include nephews David (Anita) Marsh and Darrell (Katherine) Marsh, niece Michele Marsh, cousins Janet Nugen and Karen (Allen) Fox, and great nieces/nephews. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2pm Friday Sept. 25 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 2pm. Interment will follow at Brownsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
