Thomas Allen "Gil" Gilbert, 73, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Born January 25, 1952, Tom was the son of Robert and Irmagene Gilbert. 1970 graduate of Speedway High School, where he was a basketball standout and a member of the 1970 Indiana All-Stars team. He went on to play basketball at Purdue University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education. Ultimately making a career in the real estate industry, owning several different businesses over the years.

Basketball gave Tom an extended family with lifelong friendships with many of Indiana's great players of his era like Billy Keller and George McGinnis. The Gilbert home was always open to anyone who needed a meal or a place to spend a holiday.

Survived by his daughter Gayle Norman (Brandon Everson), granddaughters Emma and Ella Norman, sister Susie Singer (Brian), nephew Scott Singer (Stacey) and niece Amy Bergstrom (Jim).

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and son in law Dwayne Norman.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm Tues. Sept. 2 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there Wed. Sept. 3 at 11 am with visitation beginning one hour prior to services.
