Obituary

Thomas E. Toussant
65, of Pittsboro, IN, passed away June 24, 2016 with family by his side. Known lovingly as Slick, Tom, Tommy T, Grandpa, Pappaw, Pa, and PopPop, he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and devoted friend. He lived a life guided by Christian values and faith in God, blessing the lives of those around him with his positivity, compassion, generosity, upbeat personality, and kindness, always willing to lend a hand.
Born January 6, 1951 in Canton, OH to late John E. and Elizabeth M. (Kratt) Toussant, he married Vickie Lynne (McAfee) Toussant at the Carrollton United Methodist Church on June 9, 1973. He attended Carrollton High and graduated from Lehman H.S. (Canton) in 1969. A graduate of Ohio State University, he worked for many years as a plant engineer until he became a general contractor and started his own "fix-it" business, T-Services. He spent his time serving both his community and church (Zionsville UMC, Pittsboro UMC) and loved fixing/constructing, singing in the choir, skiing, camping, running, whistling, and most of all being a Grandpa. He touched the lives of so many with his friendly nature, can-do attitude, and helpful, skillful hands. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vickie; siblings John ( Libby) and Mary Jo Toussant; children and spouses Jennifer ( Ralph) Havens, Eric ( Dana) Toussant, and Becky ( Mike) Rubin; grandchildren Nathan & Elliana Toussant, Olivia & Izabella Rubin, and Benjamin Havens; Brother-in-law Brad (Dotty) McAfee; niece, nephew, great nieces and nephews; adopted family Grandma Phyllis and Aunt Kathie Watson; and many friends who loved him dearly.
Friends and family will gather from 11am to 1pm Mon. June 27 at the Pittsboro United Methodist Church with funeral services there at 1pm. Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pittsboro United Methodist Church, Gideon Bibles www.gideons.org/sendtheword or American Heart Association www.americanheart.org . A celebration of life service will be held at a later time in Carrollton, OH
