Vernis L. Godfrey

94, Avon, passed away August 27, 2026. He had been a crew foreman for Miller Pipe Line for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. Vernis was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Brownsburg for several years. His favorite activities were wood working, playing corn hole and bingo at Park Square Manor. He was also an avid walker and auto racing fan. His wife of 76 years, Ramona Godfrey, his parents Willie and Cletus Godfrey, daughter Linda Heimert, and brothers Lionel Godfrey and William Godfrey preceded him in death. Vernis is survived by his children Judith Hoffman (husband Chris), Gary Godfrey (wife Joanna) and Teresa Pugh (husband Steven); brothers James Godfrey, and Mitchell Godfrey; sisters Vivian Ford, Madge Bost, Eva Eubanks and Patricia Stacey; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11am Monday August 31 at Brownsburg Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.
