Walter F. Speer, passed away on May 3, 2016. He was formerly a resident of Speedway and has lived in Brownsburg after spending several years in Bradenton, Florida. Walter was born in Bedford, Indiana on July 10, 1925 to Alonzo and Minnie Speer. He was a Navy radio operator, stationed at Pearl Harbor from 1944 to 1946. He worked as a draftsman at the Indiana Limestone Company, Marmon Harrington Corporation, and retired from RCA in 1985. He was a member of the Speedway Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Speer, and sister Mary East. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, brother Fred Speer, son Steven (Marilyn) Speer, daughter Jennifer (Donn) Morris, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held at West Ridge Park Cemetery on Monday, May 9. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association at
