Wanda Sue Lewis

79, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on July 22nd, 2025. Wanda was born in Indianapolis as the oldest child of James and Edna Miller. Many of her early memories involved spending time with her large extended family. She graduated from Monrovia High School in the Class of 1964. Wanda held many careers in her lifetime, but she would regard her most rewarding as being a nanny for a private family. She was a member of Crossroads Church in Avon, as well as the Ladies Bible Study Fellowship. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She has been a proud breast cancer survivor since 1988. She loved Elvis Presley, gospel quartet music, yellow roses, cardinals, and collecting cook books and recipes. Her family was the light of her life, and she often expressed her deep gratitude for their time and commitment in helping her age gracefully in her later years. She adored her precious Miniature Schnauzer, Ringo, who was her constant companion for the past 5 years.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Paul Lewis; beloved parents, James and Edna Miller; and her wonderful sister, Rebecca (Becky) Basore. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta (Kerry) Odle; brother James Allen (Kimberly) Miller; brother-in-law, David Basore; granddaughters Emily (Anthony Patrick) DeSabato and Alexis Odle; great-granddaughter Leanora DeSabato, one nephew and three nieces along with their families. Wanda was also blessed with a special community of friends and many of them assisted her over the last few months so she could remain in her own home.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 3 pm to 4 pm Fri. Aug. 8 at Interurban Depot, 401 S. Vine St., Plainfield, IN 46168, followed by music and memories at 4 pm.
