Obituary

Wanda Ricketts

Wanda Ricketts, 85, of Brownsburg, passed away on June 29, 2026. Born in Frankfort, Indiana, on November 12, 1940, to James and Gladys (Little) Pate, Wanda lived a life shaped by creativity, curiosity, and love for her family. She expressed her artistic spirit through painting, drawing, photography, stained glass, floral design, and web page development, and she generously shared those talents by creating beautiful work and teaching others. Wanda loved to travel, especially through her many Ambassadair trips, and she encouraged her children and grandchildren to explore, discover, read widely, and love the ocean as she did.

Those who knew Wanda will remember her creative eye, generous spirit, and the way she encouraged others to see beauty in the world around them.

Wanda taught preschool at Mother’s Day Out at Northview Christian Church for 16 years, followed by a career in stained glass, where she both created pieces and taught others the craft. She also worked as a floral designer at Marsh Supermarket in Brownsburg, where many loyal customers asked for her by name.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished husband, Ronald Ricketts. She is survived by her children, Steven (Nanette) Ricketts and Laura (Jeff) Pettigrew; and her grandchildren, Andrew (Allie) Ricketts, Kahaulani Ricketts, Chris (Miranda) Pettigrew, and Ryan (Haven) Pettigrew.

Wanda’s family and friends will celebrate her life privately at a later date.
