"Bill" Vaught
September 5, 1935 – December 26, 2021
William G. "Bill" Vaught age 86 passed from this life on Sunday, December 26 , 2021. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Christine Hiland Vaught, a daughter Julie Purple and husband Bob, grandchildren Ben Williams and wife Cassie, Kaylee Williams, and Dominick Moore. He leaves three precious great grandchildren
Hunter, Harlee Jane, and Cayden. In addition, there are nephews, nieces and a host of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Goldie (Keller) Vaught; a brother Bob Vaught: and sisters Kay, Shirley and Sue. His life was blessed during the last months by very special caregivers and home therapists: Sherri Edens, Michelle Fitts, Laura Graddy, Heather Ring, Taryn Cecil, Sergio Abatayo and Angie Raisor.
Bill was born on September 5, 1935, in Putnam County. The family settled in the Lizton area in 1947. Bill graduated at Lizton High School in 1953. He attended GMI one year and began work at the State Bank of Lizton in 1954 as a temporary employee but stayed on as a full-time employee for 46 years. After retiring in December of 2000, he remained on the bank board of directors. He served the bank and its customers for a total of 65 years. The highlights of his life in retirement were helping the Solomons farm, volunteering at Hendricks Regional Health for 14 years (7,000+ hours) and spending time with family and friends. His love for the Lord was central to his life. He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church.
Calling will be at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg Friday, December 31 st , from 10am – 1pm. Services will follow, officiated by Steve White.
Donations in memory of Bill may be made to Plainfield Christian Church, (800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168) or to Johnson University Tennessee, (7900 Johnson Drive, Knoxville, TN 37998) or to your favorite charity.
