William R. Birk
92, Brownsburg, passed away May 28, 2022. He had retired from Detroit Diesel Allison as a parts administrator after 35 years. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the US Army from 1951-53 and was a member of the Brownsburg American Legion. He was also a long time member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Brownsburg Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Leona Birk and son Gene Birk. Survivors include his wife Doris Birk of 68 years of marriage this October; wife of Gene, daughter-in-law Sheila Birk; children Paul (Yolanda) Birk, Janet (Greg) Ernstberger, Duane (Deborah) Birk, Glenn Birk (daughter-n-law Viphar, deceased), Eric (Barbara) Birk, and Jayne Birk; sisters Donna J. Mehling, Carolee Taylor, Martha Rae Schmitt; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday June 6 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral mass will be at 10am Tuesday June 7 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Malachy Cemetery West. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brownsburg Lions Club, PO Box 84, Brownsburg, IN 46112
