William And
Rita Snoddy
November 19, 1926 – March 23, 2023
William (Bill) Manford Snoddy of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 92. Rita Marie Mullins Snoddy of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the age of 96. Both Bill and Rita passed away peacefully of natural causes with loved ones by their sides.
Bill and Rita were born in Rushville, Indiana on May 1, 1927, and November 19, 1926, respectfully. They both grew up in Rushville and attended Rushville High School, where they met and fell in love and were later married on August 22, 1947.
Bill excelled in athletics and was most proud of having played two basketball games in 1945 in the Hinkle Fieldhouse during the IHSAA semi-finals. After high school he served in the US Army and attended Dwyer Business School on the GI Bill.
Rita did extremely well in scholastics while attending high school and was involved with extracurricular activities. After graduation she attended secretarial school in Indianapolis and was employed at Ice Miller Law Firm. Rita resigned to start their family.
Bill retired from General Motors in 1989. After retirement, he continued to work part time for several years at South Grove Golf Course and Hendricks County Bank and Trust. He was a former member of the Brownsburg Lions Club. Bill enjoyed playing golf, loved taking care of his yard and watching Notre Dame football.
Bill and Rita were long-time members of St. Gabriel and St. Malachy Churches, where their devout Catholic faith guided them through life. Bill and Rita's tireless love and devotion to one another and their family was evident in everything they did. Bill will always be remembered by his natural ability to connect with others, his quick smile, a sometimes not so funny joke, and upbeat personality. Once he met you, you became his friend. Rita will be remembered by her sparkling blue eyes, quick wit, intelligence, and her ability to build meaningful and loving friendships.
Bill and Rita are survived by their children: Stephen, Meade (Nancy), Suellen Bertram, Mary (Michael) Houston, Cynthia Pate and Stacey; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Their son Gregory and daughter Diane (Jerry) Thomas preceded them in death.
A celebration of life service for Bill and Rita will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at Matthews Mortuary 690 E. 56th Street, Brownsburg, IN 46112. Visitation will be from 11:30am-12:30pm, with a service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Malachy Church at stmalachy.org.
They will forever be in our hearts. Those we love don't go away / They walk beside us every day / Unseen, unheard but always near / So loved, so missed, so very dear.
