Obituary

William Aaron "Bill" Rosemeyer passed at his Brownsburg home on Monday, February 16, 2025. Bill was born on November 14, 1931 to Walter Rosemeyer and Deloris (Rosemeyer) Thornburgh in Indianapolis.  As a child Bill moved to Brownsburg where he became a Bulldog for life.  After his graduation from Brownsburg in 1950, Bill went to Indiana State to play football.  After a semester, Bill left the university to enlist in the military.  During his time of being stationed in South Carolina, he met his future wife, Kathy, who was also stationed in SC. As fate would have it, they met while he was coaching the women's sports teams on the base — and Kathy was a very active athlete on those teams.  They were married on December 25, 1953.  Not long after, they moved to Brownsburg.  They raised their boys in Brownsburg, and later in their lives they spent winters in Ft.  Myers, Florida and spring and summers in Brownsburg.

In addition to being a Brownsburg Bulldog sports fan and supporter, Bill was a 50+ year member of the Brownsburg Legion Post 331.  He was also a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.  Throughout his life he was a member of Brownsburg Christian Church/Connection Point, and recently he attended church at Avon United Methodist.

Bill lived a life full of hard work, friends, and family.  He spent most of his adult life working for Indiana Bell/ATT.  He thoroughly enjoyed telling of his many adventures working with the public during his career.  He was also very willing and ready to help fix any phone issues that his friends and family ever had. Bill was a proud veteran who spent many hours at the Brownsburg Legion.  He loved being with the people–and signing the book!  He had fond memories of being the Commander and seeing his family participate in activities there.  For many years Bill made time each morning to meet with friends to have coffee and talk.  He relished his time at McDonald's with his old and new friends.  He was the sage at the table who could talk Brownsburg history and any sports score. Bill's love of sports was his trademark.  He could tell you who was playing–and how they were doing.  He loved watching and participating in all ball sports since he was a kid.  Until a few years ago, he was playing in the Brownsburg Legion Golf League.  This year he was especially excited about IU sports.  He proudly wore his IU gear each time the Hoosier football team played.   Most of all, though, he loved his family.  He took great pleasure in spending time with everyone.  He and Kathy welcomed family to their home in Florida with open arms.  He also enjoyed being with kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and in-laws at family gatherings celebrating birthdays, holidays, sporting events–and just life.  Bill always had a kind word, smile, or hug to share with his family. He will be missed by many.

Bill is survived by his sons, Mike (Debbie) Rosemeyer and Greg (Lori) Rosemeyer; his brother Ed (Jan) Thornburgh and his sister Nancy (Mike) Gillie; his three grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy)Peterson, Adam (Ashley) Rosemeyer, Megan (Oscar Acevedo) Rosemeyer and two step-grandchildren Ryan (Nicole) Sampson and Eric (Kaitlin) Sampson; and twelve great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Rosemeyer; his parents; and his brother, Bruce Rosemeyer.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Mon. Feb. 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services at 1 pm.  Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery.
