Obituary

William E. "Wes" Schilke
age 84, Brownsburg, beloved husband, father, and "Papa" passed away Feb. 26, 2013. He was a graduate of University of California Berkley with a bachelor of science in engineering and later received a master of science in engineering from Purdue University. He had been a mechanical engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison for 34 years where he designed and created the SCAAN program that is still in use. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and handcrafting children's toys, having made the wooden fire truck at the Brownsburg Fire Territory Building. He was preceded in death by his son David J. Schilke, parents H. William and Esther Schilke, and brother Richard M. Schilke. Survivors include his wife Dagmar Schilke; daughters Katherine "Kat" Schilke, Kaaren Schilke-Cherns, and Joann S. Lehmer; and he was "Papa" to Grandchildren William A. Lehmer and Anna E. Lehmer, and great nephew Jonathan L. Lê and great niece Trinity E. Lê. Memorial services will be 3pm Fri. March 22 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Brownsburg with visitation there from 1-3pm. Contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
