William M.
Snoddy
May 1, 1927 – April 20, 2020
William (Bill) Manford Snoddy of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 92. Bill passed away peacefully of natural causes at home with his loved ones by his side.
Bill was born in Rushville, Indiana on May 1, 1927. He attended Rushville High School, where he excelled in athletics and was most proud of having played two basketball games in 1945 in the Hinkle Fieldhouse during the IHSAA semi-finals. After high school he served in the US Army and attended Dwyer Business School on the GI Bill. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Mullins, on August 22, 1947.
Bill retired from General Motors in 1989. He was a long-time member of St. Gabriel Church and a current member of St. Malachy Church. After retirement, he continued to work part time for many years at South Grove Golf Course and Hendricks County Bank and Trust. He was a former member of the Brownsburg Lions Club. Bill enjoyed playing golf, loved taking care of his yard and watching Notre Dame football.
His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in everything he did. Bill will always be remembered by his natural ability to connect with others with his quick smile, a sometimes not so funny joke and upbeat personality. Once he met you, you became his friend.
Bill is survived by his wife Rita M. Snoddy; children Stephen Snoddy, Meade (Nancy) Snoddy, Suellen Bertram, Mary (Michael) Houston, Cynthia Pate and Stacey Snoddy; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His son Gregory Snoddy and daughter Diane (Jerry) Thomas preceded him in death.
He will be forever in our hearts. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.
A celebration of life service will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org .
