Wilma Jean Scamahorn
Age 96, Pittsboro, died Jan. 2, 2015. She was born April 11, 1918 to Winzor and Lillian (Williams) Chambers, Stinesville, IN. She graduated from Bloomington High School and Indiana University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was married to Dr. Malcolm O. Scamahorn for 49 years before his death on Dec. 16, 1991. She is survived by her children, Jean Ann (Jerry) Abbott, Lebanon, IN, Dr. John R. (Mary Jane) Scamahorn, Greencastle, Dr. James O. (Michelle) Scamahorn, Lihue, HI and her niece, Gayle (Denny) Nealis, Logansport, IN. Mrs. Scamahorn had 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, as well as many cousins in the Ellettsville area. She was an active homemaker, mother and teacher as well as assisting Dr. Malcolm in his clinic. She was active in the Pittsboro community through the Pittsboro Christian Church, Queen Esther Class, Pittsboro Study Club, Campfire Girls Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Church Youth Leader, and member of Tri Kappa among others. Wilma Jean touched many lives in her community. Mrs. Scamahorn loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to entertain family, friends, her children's friends, church groups, and their medical colleagues. Calling will be at the Pittsboro Christian Church from 4-7pm, Wed. Jan. 7. Private graveside services will be held Thurs., Jan 8. Contributions may be made to Pittsboro Christian Church.
