Obituary

Wilma F. Wallace, 94, of Danville, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born April 18, 1931, in Greencastle, Indiana, one of eight children born to Ezra and Worth Arnold.

Wilma's life was centered on caring for others. She was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, faithfully raising five children while supporting her husband in their farming life. Much like the woman described in Proverbs 31, Wilma was a woman of energy, generosity, and many talents.

For more than 45 years, she shared her creativity and enthusiasm through Home Interiors, even earning recognition as the company's Top Displayer in the Nation twice—an accomplishment that brought her great joy. She was also a proud member of the Groveland Homemakers Club and the Mothers Study Club, where she formed many treasured friendships and shared countless happy memories. Wilma especially loved playing cards—most often Rook and the infamous Pepper, Horse & Boop—whether at the monthly three-family card party or after an evening meal shared with family and friends.

Wilma will always be remembered for her warm hospitality and love for feeding those around her. Family and friends knew that a visit to Wilma's home often meant leaving with a full heart—and a full plate—especially when her famous homemade rolls or cinnamon rolls were involved.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Wilma was a longtime and faithful member of the Avon Heights church of Christ and earlier worshiped with the Haw Creek church of Christ in Roachdale.

Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irvin Wallace; her sons, Gary Wallace and Don Wallace; her son-in-law, Ted Brewer; her daughter-in-law, Vicki (Bruce) Wallace; her siblings, Imogene Scobee, Bobby Arnold, Waneta McMains, Joan Veazey, Joyce Girton, and Jimmie Arnold; her grandson, Jeremy Wallace; and her great-granddaughters, Kayla Brewer, and Emma Babcock.

She leaves behind a family who will deeply miss her love and example: her children Vicki Brewer, David Wallace, and Lea Anne (Jon) Babcock; her sister Shirley (Jack) Whitley; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed by her life.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, April 6, at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, with funeral services immediately following at noon. Wilma will be laid to rest at Bainbridge Cemetery.

Her family takes comfort in the many memories she leaves behind and the legacy of love, faith, and kindness that she shared so freely with all who knew her.
